Goojet sponsor of Leweb Conference

HomeThis year again we will be attending Leweb conference. This conference is THE rendez-vous of web companies in Europe and this year, with the them “Real-Time Web”, we could not not be present ;)

Goojet has a long story with this conference as this is the third year in a row as a partner (last year we made a special version of Goojet for the conference) but also because two years ago it was during this conference that we opened our private beta and we announced our fund raising. It was also thanks to Leweb that we started getting awareness, by winning the startup competition of Leweb in 2007.

This year we will not only be a partner of the conference, by sponsoring the goodies bag (with nice goodies reminder of last year) but Marc (Marc Rougier, President of Goojet) will also be talking on a panel dedicated to Mobile Apps.

We will be several from the team to attend the conference, so feel free to ping us if you want to meet, and if you still hesitate before coming, have a look at this video presenting the program.

Post Pictures on your Pix-Star frame thanks to Goojet

pixstarWe’ve made a partnership with a company called Pix-Star, specialized in digital photoframes.

With the Goojet we’ve specially developed, you’ll be able to share the pictures taken with your mobile directly to your Pix-Star frame. Pix-Star frames have the particularity to integrate Wi-Fi, 3G & Bluetooth technologies, and can even send pictures by email. With the small app available on Goojet, one click is needed to have a picture taken from a mobile phone displayed on a digital photoframe.

Powerful and easy to use, this Goojet feature will give you the opportunity to join some text on the picture and to create your owns digital postcards directly from the Goojet’s mobile Interface. The Goojet and Pix-Star partnership is facilitating the exchange of digital pictures within your community between your mobile phone and your wireless digital picture frame.

For those of you that already have a Pix-Star frame, add the Pix-Star Goojet to your MyGoojet. The only thing you need to start sharing pictures is to login with your frame identifiers.

And if you don’t have yet a digital photoframe and want to buy one, we invite you to buy one from Pix-Star so that you use it with your Goojet account ;)

Techcrunch Europas Awards: Goojet, Second in « Best Mobile Startup » category

Techcrunch Europe, the European version of the American blog Techcrunch, specialized in high-tech and the web industry and therefore specialized in startup news has organized a competition between startups on an European scale: The Europas.

Goojet was nominated in the “Best Mobile Startup” category among more than thirty other companies but thanks to the vote of the community (and thus your votes because we spread the message on Goojet and on Twitter) we were shortlisted in the top 5 finalists.

During Thursday night’s ceremony in London, we finished second and were “highly commended”. The winner was Nimbuzz and we congratulate them and their application that gathers several IM and social networks in one. For us, this second position, while Goojet is still little-developed in Europe is a very good sign and an excellent recognition from the market and from our peers (19 experts were in the jury).

Techcrunch used the occasion to release an index: Techcrunch Europe Top 100 that lists the hundred, more or less recent, most active and visible European startups. The classification algorithm is not very clear (it is made by a company called Younoodle) but Goojet is present in this ranking so we will carefully watch our evolution ;)

Thank you all again for your support!

Mobile Media Night - by Goojet

On June 10th, Goojet has been organizing an event called “Mobile Media Night-by Goojet”. With the announcement of our fund raising, the launch of our new version but also, and on top of all, the beginning of our commercial offer, we had decided to celebrate with a special event. Instead of “just” setting up a party or an announcement event, we preferred preparing a more innovative and more “useful” concept. Thus, we organized a roundtable about the mobile and its possibilities for the announcers and the brands; the topic was: ”How do brands take advantage of the mobile internet explosion?

Here is the invitation:

mobile-media-night-by-goojet

As you can see on the invitation above, we had managed to gather a group of qualified and diverse speakers:

+ Georges Mohammed Cherif - Founder @ Buzzman
+ Julien Guiraud - Digital Marketing Manager @ Coca-Cola
+ Michel Campan - Marketing Client Director @ Christian Dior Couture
+ Guillaume du Gardier -New Media Director @ Ferrero
+ Thomas Husson - Senior Analyst @ Forrester Research
+ Limvirak Chea - New Business Development @ Google EMEA
+ Antoine Levêque - Managing Director @ Marvellous / Isobar
+ Philippe Collombel - Managing Partner @ Partech International
+ Hervé Le Jouan - Managing Director Europe @ Comscore Census Solutions
+ Jérôme Jean - Internet Project Manager @ Toyota
+ Dominique Mohamed - Business Development @ Voyages Sncf

Were programmed: a presentation of statistics about mobile usage by Comscore, several panels with our speakers, a presentation of Goojet, and then, chats with a drink around a buffet. All along the evening, it was possible to discover Goojet, not only on the Plasma screens, but also because, for the first time since the creation of Goojet, there were more Goojet Team members in Paris than in Toulouse ;-).

During the night, we had also prepared a game called “Goojet Family”, whose concept was taken from the “7 families” game, which invited all the participants (more than 150 although the initial goal was 120…) to find the other members of their family to exchange goojets in a sticker format. Among the people who had found the most family members, an HTC Magic phone was to win; it is finally Milton from Phonevalley who won the device, lucky him!

Finally, here are some pictures of the event so you can have a look:

Goojet raises 6 million euros

While we are launching the new version of Goojet, we are also proud to announce a new round of fundraising for Goojet, amounted to 6 million Euros.

Almost a year and a half after our first round of fundraising amounted to 2.3 million Euros back in Decmber 07, this new round was made by Goojet’s historical investors joined by Orkos Capital. If you are interested by this matter, you can have a look at their websites but also at others companies they have invested in:

+ Elaia Partners : Goom, Criteo, Wyplay, Total Immersion etc..
+ IRDI-ICSO : Leyio, Neosens, Ethiquable, Seanodes
+ Orkos Capital : Allocine, Start, Liligo, Newzy etc…
+ Partech International : Dailymotion, Goom, Digitick, Qype etc…

(Those examples were chosen randomly…)

The biggest question still remaining since the launching is “what will the money be used for?”. In a nutshell, there are two answers to this question: first, to continue our development in France, on the basis of our current growth and first experiences, and second to grow on an international scale, starting by Europe. This fundraising is a very good sign for Goojet’s growth because our value (that we won’t announce) is superior to the one we had a year and a half ago, for the first round.

You will find more details about this fundraising in our Press Release.

New Version of Goojet online!

We’ve just released a new version of Goojet! Here are a few screenshots of what you will discover:

What are the new features of this version?

First, we had a slight reorganization. The first page that you will visualize when you will log on to Goojet will not only be your selection of goojets but will be divided into three tabs:

+ The MyGoojet tab, with all your favorite goojets as you already know them
+ The Messages tab, with all your received and sent messages from your Goojet contacts
+ The News tab, that becomes a live place on Goojet, presenting everything that is new

We worked more especially on the Messages and News tabs.

Your mailbox inside Goojet has been completely redone in order to ease communication between one or several Goojet users but also on the outside, for example with free text messages. With this new mailbox, it will be very easy to send a goojet or a goojet’s page, in order for example to share a cool video seen on YouTube Mobile or the last comical FML story…

The News tab will allow you to find everything that is new on your Goojet space: articles from your RSS feeds, amusing content, activities your Goojet contacts are doing… but also some recommendations for specific goojets, according to your preferences or coming from the community.
The purpose of this new function is to present, every time that you log on, a new content chosen depending on your choices and preferences. This is why we call Goojet a mobile social media!

A few other things to notice:

+ The application has been entirely redesigned, you can even change your Goojet space’s background color on your mobile.
+ You profile is now 100% modifiable from your cell phone
+ We’ve also modified Goojet web version to ease its comprehension, that is why the “Desktop” tab is now available mostly to advanced users
+ For iPhone users, if a website has an iPhone version, this version will be directly send to you through Goojet, as if the navigation has been made through Safari on an iPhone
+ A notification system that sends text messages whenever the number of unread messages is too high, has been set up

Presentation during the “Marketing 2.0 Conference”

A few months ago we attented the conference called Marketing 2.0 Conference, held in Paris and gathering some of the most interesting marketers in the “social media” area. Goojet was invited to make a presentation concerning the applications stores, how they’re very powerful and in the same way can not be considered as a unique solution. It was also the opportunity to present the concept of “Mobile Social Media”. It’s how we’re defining Goojet.

Last year we did already attend this conference and we made a presentation about mobile viral marketing that you can also view on this blog.

Two TechcrunchTalks with Goojet

Some weeks ago, we were pleased to have been invited to two different events organized by Techcrunch Europe. This videos have been publisched online so here there are

    Goojet available on Android phones

500px-android-logosvg-androidHere we go! Goojet is available on the Android Market and all happy owners of an Android phone such as the HTC Dream (G1) or the HTC Magic (G2) will now have the chance to use Goojet!

After Goojet for iPhone with the iPhone app or previously a runtime for Blackberry that went in addition to our J2ME app, it was very logical for us to very quickly make it available on the Android platform. The motivation was double: Android is a platform that allows great development possibilities and the number of users will grow exponentially in the next months.

In this Goojet Android version you’ll find all the Goojet features you already know: easy navigation of goojets, video watching, pictures taken directly from the Goojet app, etc.

But there are two major new features exclusively for the Android version:

    • Goojet notifications appear directly on the Android phone desktop (an icon appears at the top left of the screen when you have messages). On Android, the Goojet app runs in the background, checks regularly for new Goojet messages and then displays an alert! Real-time alerts ensure that you’re always aware of your Goojet activity, never missing a step (or date).
    • The possibility to “bookmark a Goojet” and to put it on the phone desktop. Now you can easily launch one specific goojet from the Android phone dekstop!

Android Market can only by browsed from an Android phone but you can check the Goojet Android app description on a non-official Android Market web version.

Here are some screenshots to show you what it looks like on an Android phone:
